Thor's Thought: Taxes

Today is Thursday... named after the Norse god Thor. He's the god of strength and thunder, and protector against forces of evil.

The evil we faced this week was the USA's wonderful (tongue in cheek) tax season. Yesterday, our income tax filings were due. Whether we owed, or got a refund, it had to be postmarked by midnight on April 15th or else. And that or else isn't pretty.

So the evil of money and tax collectors reared its ugly head this week and we stressed and, alternatively, chilled. We drew deep breaths and calmed ourselves. We live in a land where the government, yes, mis-spends and over-taxes the poor, but we could move if we choose. We decided to stay, so we must pay.

That is done.

We're a metaphysical family, and believe in life, love, Spirit, and BEing. We garden on our little bit of space, growing as much of our own food as possible. Two dogs live with us, a Chihuahua dog and a part Alaskan Malamute puppy. We do a lot of schooling at home, and are a family of voracious readers. We are prepared for almost any eventuality, and enjoy being together, especially playing with our dogs (our huge puppy is a hoot!). We are working to manifest a homestead (5-10 acres) so that we will have room for the dogs but also chickens and goats and probably pigs. We are also working towards a more healthy diet - more veggies, fruits, nuts, beans, seeds, and unprocessed foods.

About Us:

• DAD is the husband, and followed his own path to freeing spirituality. He works in the technical aspect of corporate America during the day, and between chores and gardening and family and helping his mother, he fits in BEing.


• MOM is the wife, and found her spirituality through intense grief over the death of a family member. She became an Reiki Master (Tibetan, Karuna and Usui), and discovered KNOWing and BEing. She is disabled and writes when she can.


• SON is wife's boy, born in 1996, and being educated to be the complete person he is meant to be. While he's been called "Indigo" and "Gifted", it is Mom's belief that ALL children are unique and gifted and blessed. He is compassionate and empathic, and gets highly emotional when in crowds.

DAD and MOM met online when MOM placed an ad on Craigslist in 2006. They met after several months of corresponding and telephone calls, and became engaged soon after. Then married April 2007. DAD is working hard to become a good father, and MOM is working just as hard to share the responsibility and control. SON enjoys having a dad for the first time in his life.
